Docks, hubs and cables

Most modern laptops have only two or three USB-C ports, which runs out fast once a monitor, keyboard, mouse, webcam and charger are all competing for space. A dock or hub solves this by turning one cable into many, and the right one depends on what you're connecting: a simple hub might be enough for a mouse and a flash drive, while driving two monitors and fast external storage needs a dock built for that bandwidth. Not every USB-C port supports video or fast charging, so the laptop's own specs matter as much as the dock's. We test docks and hubs against real home-office setups, focused on getting two screens and a full desk of accessories working reliably off one cable, rather than just listing port counts.
