OhmNook is free to read. We earn money when you buy something through some of the links on our site. This page explains how that works and how it affects what we write.

How we make money

Some links to retailers on OhmNook are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the retailer may pay us a small commission.

  • You don't pay more. The price is the same whether you use our link or go to the shop directly.
  • We don't see your personal or payment details. Retailers and affiliate networks only tell us that a sale happened and roughly what was bought.

We work with affiliate networks and retailers including Awin and Impact. We may also use services that automatically turn ordinary links to shops into affiliate links after you click them. Our Privacy policy explains what data these services use and how to opt out.

What commissions never change

  • Which products we recommend. We choose products first, based on our research and the criteria in our Editorial policy, before looking at whether a retailer pays a commission.
  • How we rank them. Retailers can't pay to be included, or to be placed higher on a list.
  • What we say about them. If a product has drawbacks, we say so, including for products that earn us a commission.

Where possible, we link to more than one retailer for the same product, so you can choose where to buy.

  • Every article that contains affiliate links shows a short note near the top, before the first link.
  • Affiliate links are marked as sponsored for search engines.
  • Links to other websites for reference (like manufacturer spec pages or sources) are not affiliate links.

Prices and availability

We don't show prices on OhmNook. Retailers change prices and availability often, so we send you to the retailer's own page for a product, and the price you see there is the one that applies.

We don't currently publish paid or sponsored articles. If we ever do, they will be clearly labelled as sponsored at the top of the page.
